ThursdayRev. Dr. Jeff Johnson The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey A. Johnson serves as the National Director of Evangelism and National Coordinator for NET: National Evangelism Team of the American Baptist Churches USA under the auspices of the Board of National Ministries.As the denominational Specialist in Evangelism, he collaborates with American Baptist national and regional staff committed to the denominational NEW LIFE 2010 goal to make 1,000,010 new disciples for Christ by the year 2010. Part of his responsibility is to assist our 35 different regions and 3 geographic areas in developing specific strategic evangelism plans and programs. In order to accomplish such, he travels extensively to speak, teach, equip, consult, and interact on local, associational, regional, and national levels. His strong Christocentric emphasis on personal evangelism is both relational and natural, rooted in the Word of God. He seeks to raise the awareness of the front line nature of evangelism as it occurs in and through the local church, believing as does our denomination that each of our local congregations are individually the fundamental units of ministry. He has served on Ecumenical, Evangelical, as well as Anabaptist (Believers Church) Evangelism Councils to coordinate evangelistic efforts across the spectrum of the Body of Christ. Rev. Michael Okwakol Michael is the Senior Pastor of Agape Baptist Church in Kampala Uganda and the President of the Baptist Union of Uganda. Previous to coming to study in the US, Michael served as General Secretary of the Baptist Union of Uganda for 8 years and in other capacities since 1984, He also is a member of the General Council of the Baptist World Alliance where he serves in several committees. Michael is completing his graduate studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina where is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree in Christian Leadership. Michael is married to Cossy and they have 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy, and a grandson who is 4.Rev. Dr. Glenn Eugene Porter
Glenn is an associate regional pastor/area minister for the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey. He is responsible for ministering to approximately 120 congregations and pastors in Essex and North New Jersey associations. Prior to joining the ABCNJ ministry team, Dr. Porter served as pastor at the historic Gillfield Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia. |
